The retreat is limited to 15 people, Catherine, and our helpers as well. We are very conscientous about creating an inclusive space with lots of downtime for HSPs, and we know folks can suffer from social anxiety around a retreat like this, so we do our best to make everybody feel welcome and comfortable, and you can participate in whatever parts you like, but also spend time on your own, too!
What I teach for perimenopause is different than what you might expect.
Why am I making you wake up at 5:30am at a perimenopause retreat to watch sunrise? Why will I require lights off and blue blockers on after sunset? Why am I cutting the wi-fi during the retreat? Why are we talking crone archetypes? What kind of weird retreat is this, anyways?
The kind of retreat that actually works.
The narrative around perimenopause (which can start in our 30s and go to our 50s) is that it will be a time of physical and emotional struggle without any recourse or solutions, and we just have to suck it up.
You gotta lose weight.
Reduce stress.
Sleep better!
No sh*t, sherlock.
I tried all those things and they still weren’t working or I wasn’t able to achieve them, and then blamed myself and found myself in a shame spiral, once again.
Then I found the principles of circadian rhythm, quantum biology (essentially the science of connecting to nature for health), blood sugar regulation, plus some pretty powerful astrology and identity tools that actually had me looking forward to my Crone Era, rather than fearing and dreading it.
THAT’S what I’ll teach at this retreat. Yes, we’ll be outside barefoot a lot. Yes, I will encourage you to wake up and see sunrise with me every day (which will be around 5:40am on these days) and see sunset every night. Yes, I will cut the wifi and tell you to keep electronics out of your room (I might even steal your phone. Haven’t decided yet.) Yes, we’re all going to wear dorky red-tinted blue blocking glasses after sunset and cut the lights inside. Yes, I will have you look up your astrology and use it to create a new Crone Archetype that you can step into at this time.
Of course, we’ll focus on the basics, too. Movement. Journaling. Nervous system regulation. Nourishing, high-protein, whole ingredient, local and seasonal foods.
But it’s my spin and education on the, shall we say, slightly weirder stuff, that will actually move the needle for you.
(For example: Did you know what kind of light you’re seeing will affect your hormones? So that’s why we go over the tenets of circadian rhythm, as well as how to connect to the energy-giving source of the earth.)
I’ve never been somebody to give up easily, and I’m always my own first experiment.
Through over two years of my own research, studying, trying tactics out on myself, taking courses, reading every single book on the topic, and eventually entering my own nutritional therapy training, I distilled the most effective lifestyle, diet, supplementary techniques, put my highly sensitive person spin on it and I figured out how I could thrive through perimenopause.
Now, through the exact tactics I’ll be teaching you during the retreat, I healed, and am now a 45-year-old woman thriving through perimenopause. What does that look like?
I lost 20 pounds and am back to the weight that feels right for me, that I’ve carried for most of my adult life
My mood is stable the entire month. I may feel a bit more quiet, introverted and emotionally sensitive the day or two before my period, but I know it’s coming and can handle it
My sleep is stellar. No more 3am wakeups and staring at the ceiling, dreading the day ahead
I no longer rely on caffeine, alcohol and sugar to help me make it through the day, the week, the month… in fact, I’m now sober and caffeine-free: a huge accomplishment for me, given how addicted I was
My energy is on point. I hike regularly, play with my nieces and nephews, run my own business and am active in my community
Perhaps most importantly, and this is hard to describe, but I just feel like myself again. My brain and body don’t feel hijacked and out of my control

Perimenopause came for me hard in my late 30s, and I didn’t have any idea that that’s what was happening. I seemingly gained 20 pounds overnight, and no matter what I did, all of my exercise efforts only seemed to contribute to inflammation that was taking over my body. Here’s what else happened…
My libido went down the toilet
My hair started falling out
Depression and anxiety (which I had dealt with to some extent much of my adult life) got 10x worse
I couldn’t stop picking fights with people, stewing; rage was a constant
My sleep was fractured, and I was relying on a toxic mix of alcohol to wind down at night and 4-5 cups of coffee a day to wake me back up
I also didn’t realize I was also suffering from PMDD (Premenstrual dysphoric disorder, much more severe form of PMS). But the arrival of perimenopause walloped it all in my face.
Sometimes it seemed like things would be okay. I felt like myself a couple weeks out of each month. But then the back half of my cycle came roaring in. For two weeks each month, I’d pick destructive fights, make impulsive decisions, and feel deeply dissatisfied with every single aspect of my life. Then the day I got my cycle, it all stopped. But I’d have to spend the next two weeks cleaning up all the fights I’d started and decisions I’d made beforehand. The cycle seemed endless. Doctors had no advice except “lose weight and reduce stress.” When I learned that perimenopause could go on for over a decade, I felt hopeless. Was this all that was ahead?!
